As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, I believe that Asia is the most convenient continent for a first backpacking trip. Asia attract every year a massive amount of backpackers, tourists and solo travelers. Everybody pounces in this area known for its cheap cost of living.
Thailand is the perfect destination to start your journey. If you’ve never been in Asia before it is always hard to pick up a starting point when you’re especially in this vast region of the world , that why you should probably land in Bangkok and make it your rallying point before exploring the region.
Over the past years Thailand becomes the touristic center of Southeast Asia, between its jungles, beautiful beaches, diving spots, amazing food and really low prices , everyone find his little paradise here so don’t be surprised to encounter travelers with different lifestyles. You get it, yes this is the country of all the contrasts and extremes; ultramodern and futuristic towers in Bangkok to some slums and hovel around the city, cheap hostels and guesthouses to luxurious and very expensive resorts, a very conservative Muslim areas to some streets with crazy nightlife, where brothels are on every corner and alcohol flows freely day and night.
During my stay in Thailand , I haven’t spent one day alone , crazy how easy is to get to know people there , backpackers like you are everywhere , sharing a tuk-tuk , chatting on a 7/11 , train and bus stations , dormitories , beaches , bars , boats . At the end it will become intuitive to hang out for days with a bunch of fellas you just met for minutes in one of those places I’ve just quoted.
If you’re reading this article, you might be preparing your first trip in Thailand or a person who already know the country very well. Doesn’t really matter, I’ll be proposing some of the most common itineraries and routes depending mainly on the period of stay , a one week vacations couldn’t be compared to a month ( or more ) , the options are obviously not the same.
Regarding the budget, it will depend greatly on your habits and needs, whether you are a party animal or seeking for cozy and beautiful hotels, a backpacker or a wealthy tourist: p those itineraries are made for you.
